about Piet van waarde
Piet is the President of SideWalk LLC. The name of the company arose out of Piet’s desire to walk alongside his clients. He is not the kind of consultant who pontificates from on high. Rather, he serves out of the context of relationship.
He has broad experience, having taught at the University of Missouri Graduate School of Business on team-building and leadership development. He has also served as an instructor for Mid-Missouri Training Institute, and consulted firms such as State Farm Insurance, Image Technologies, Boone County National Bank, Veteran’s United, and University Hospital on issues related to organizational and personnel development. He has also written two books: Building Teams that L.A.S.T and unsettled.
Piet is also a highly sought-after conference speaker. He has spoken at multiple professional associations, including the Missouri State Sheriff’s Association, the Food Service Directors District conference and Griffith’s Leadership Society Conference. In addition, he served as an Associate Trainer internationally for John Maxwell’s Million Leader Mandate in the UK and the Netherlands. He is also a guest lecturer for Lead Academy in the UK.
Up until his retirement in January of 2017, Pieter Van Waarde was also the Senior Pastor at Woodcrest Chapel for 22 years. Under his leadership, Woodcrest Chapel received the distinguished “Small Business of the Year” Award in the non-for-profit sector from the Columbia Chamber of Commerce on two separate occasions. During his twenty-two-year tenure, the average attendance grew from 450 to 2000 weekend attendees (on three campuses).
Piet has received his Masters in Business Administration and Masters in New Testament Studies from Regent University. His undergraduate degree is in Interpersonal and Organizational Communications, from Oral Roberts University, where he was also an award-winning orator.
Piet, and his wife Carol, have been married for over 30 years. They have three adult children: Pieter, Mallory, and Curran. Together they have made their home in Missouri since 1994.
