Welcome! Today we’re going to share our first example of Coachability. Here’s a scenario. Our client is a local internet marketing company who specializes in search engine optimization. Two years ago, this company hired Jeff, a brilliant young man fresh out of college who has already received two promotions and is being considered for analytics team leader. However, his direct supervisors concerned he might not be as good a leader manager as he is a technical expert. Chuck, what did you do to help that supervisor with Jeff?
Dr. Charles CokerÂ
John, Jeff’s brilliance and rapid rise in his company went to his head. When we tested him, we discovered a lack of feedback receptivity and a willingness to seek feedback. That alerted both his boss and me that we had some work to do. We devised the plan to put the promotion on hold and bring Jeff into some high-level discussions, which included our outside consultant wrap. His doctorate is in data mining. Within several weeks, Jeff realized that he still had a lot to learn after Raph suggested that some of his recommendations lack substance and viability. By the second month, we retested Jeff and saw a major shift in openness to both direction and leadership skills. They are hoping to promote Jeff next month. Coaches love working with people who identify where they can improve themselves and their careers. You, too, can discover which aspects of growth and development process need help. You can do that at no cost at the address listed in this video. We hope you’ll take advantage of our research and see how you can accelerate your personal and professional success.
